Blu Que Island Grill is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars, based on 160 reviews!
This is the kind of place you don't want to miss! FREE Valet Parking, Laid back, indoor or outdoor dining, you can dress up or down either way you will fit in. The atmosphere is dark wood with beautiful bar and table tops in what else, BLU. They seem to be the only ones that have live music when the other eateries don't. 2 bars inside/outside with televisions to watch a game. The owners are always in the house!
The food is diverse, great salad options, smoked brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, seafood and ribs. Lots of appetizers to choose from "Asian Spiced Chicken Wings" are a favorite as well as the slider sampler. They always have specials going each day of the week, ex: $0.25 wings on Mondays & $1.00 ribs.
On the weekends they smoke a pig - must see. They are very involved giving back to their community via charity events.
Great for the whole family, a romantic evening or just bellying up to the bar after a day at the beach.
We had a solid lunch here, but we were thrilled to find an all day happy hour! The drink prices are outstanding! We had a salad and the Kobe beef sliders... The sliders were terrific and the salad was fine. I will definitely be back for happy hour!
I was surprised to read some complaints about service, since we had such a wonderful experience. From the initial greeting, being seated promptly, to even being sure we got our drink order in time to get the happy hour half-off rate-- our server was very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Both the mango martini and the pomegranate martini were great. Live music was playing--similar to the coffeehouse radio station music choices-- just perfect for a relaxing dinner.
But then the real fun began: this entire month is featuring all you can eat lobster for $35, which includes clam chowder and a house salad. We appreciated how they brought out one lobster at a time, making sure each one was hot and fresh--these were 1 to 1 1/4 pound Maine lobsters, and they were sweet and tender. The clam chowder was tasty as well, and the salad was fine. Husband was elated with the meal, and the eagerness of the wait staff to be sure he had as many lobsters as he wanted! I couldn't decide between smoked brisket or pulled pork, but the server steered me right-- and I loved the brisket along with a variety of barbecue sauces available on the table. My entree came with a choice of 2 sides-- good cheese grits, and their signature blue cheese coleslaw, which was a bit too rich for me. Wine list was reasonably priced-- had a Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc for $33. Can't say enough about our wonderfully friendly and efficient server and the very enjoyable meal. We will definitely return!
Awesome dinner! Our server was Eric great job. Attentive but not intrusive. We had the "all you can eat" Lobster and we were dying to finish the 4th one ( see pix). The ambience was typical beech bar with music minus water view (not bad).
Their version of bread pudding was a huge portion, worth NOT sharing because it was mouth meltingly good. (again see pix) with sparkler. Good Eats, great company ....... I'll be back........ Pamela
Awesome food and atmosphere! Live music with acoustic guitar. We came for dinner and its tucked behind the main street, come here if your going out to eat! I orderd the pulled pork with mixed veggies and cheese grits, it was so delicious! My f e BBQ sauce was the Kansas city classic!
My husband and I were visiting Sarasota and happened across Blu Que Island Grill for lunch (Friday afternoon). We sat at the bar and enjoyed an entertaining conversation with the bartender, Tony. We ordered the smoked fish dip and brisket quesadillas. The fish dip was OK (I've had much better) but the quesadillas were good.
We enjoyed the atmosphere so much that we returned for another meal a few days later. Again, we sat at the bar and enjoyed our conversation with the bartender. This time we ordered their award-winning chicken wings based on a recommendation from our first visit. The wings were GREAT! Smoked - not fried - and lightly coated with an Asian sauce. They were served with blue cheese dressing (and/or ranch dressing) but we didn't use it because they were too tasty to cover them up with anything.
Friendly staff and enjoyed live music (that was not too loud) on both visits. Nice, casual atmosphere.
Excellent calamari, baby back ribs are falling off the bone and Mac and cheese balls are awesome. Lamb shank was too die for. Our waiter was awesome. We also got to sample the pig that was roasting all day! I wish we could have stayed until Wednesday they have all you can eat lobster.
So much fun !!!
Roasted pig on Sundays excellent live music by mike sales.
The pulled pork was so fabulous with blue cheese coleslaw.
The perfect place to go for old Florida
Awesome
The best deep fried Oreo dessert in the world.
Had lunch and LOVED it! The owner was nice and awesome. We had the blue cheese chips, which were awesome. And for lunch, we had the pulled pork and buffalo burger. Both were AMAZING! The colesaw with blue cheese was to die for. Service was attentive and fast. Couldn't ask for a better experience! We will definitely go back the next time we are in Sarasota!
Generally good food with a really great atmosphere. Relaxed. About 100 meters from the ocean shore. Large servings and good service.
We ate there almost every evening during our vacation in March. Ate at the bar each time, because we preferred not to be by the music. Each bar tender was great, our food was very good, and so were the drinks. I see some people were not happy with there service, but never had a problem.
Awesome food & daily specials!
This place has amazing food. I love the brisket quesadilla, the seared tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes, the wedge salad, the key lime cloud dessert and so much more! The happy hour and daily specials are amazing deals and a must do! check out their website www.bluqueislandgrill.com (yes, slight name change) or visit them on facebook :) They are also a great place for girls night out or a birthday party.

This place is Awesome! Went there with my family of 4, everyone ordered different food from the menu, everything was great. Service was awesome. Their wings are some of the best I've ever had. Happy Hour prices are a plus. Definitely a must go if you make it to Siesta Key. Fla.
The wings are awesome and the scampi is to die for! Our server Thomas was soo super and had a bubbly personality! He make little joke and I laugh!!! I highly recommend coming in for happy hour! Thank you guys!

Parking was close by and they let us leave our car to walk to the beach...which was awesome given there is no place to park on Avenida Messina. We ordered the KeyWest Conch burger and Ken's Texas Burger and both were appetizing and delicious. Natalie was our server. She was pleasant and the service was impeccable. Almost every hour is Happy Hour with drinks being half-price from 11-6. Music performance by Mike Sales was smooth and soulful and Steel Pan by Frankie Catalina was outstanding. A great afternoon on Siesta Key. Definitely coming back again.
Well worth every star. The wings are amazing not the biggest in size but the sauce is the bomb. Our family had burgers, Mahi Mahi, and pulled pork. All of which I would highly recommend to anyone. The guy that plays music on Sunday and Monday nights is great to listen to while you eat. Overall a great place to eat.
The food is wonderful and so is the atmosphere. My family and I will definitely be going back.
First time here, loved the ambiance. The place has it's beachy/outdoorsy charm. You can sit inside our outside while you enjoy the live music with some misters to cool off. The valet parking is complimentary so just make sure you tip the guys because they were working fast. Only downside but understandable due to the lack of parking, was that the valet was until 10pm and we got there at like 745pm.

Absolutely loved this place!!!! Fantastic service!! Elyse was an awesome server!!! Food was to die for!!! Calamari, lobster Mac and cheese ball, and baked Brie omg!!!! My mouth is watering right now!! Will be back for sure!!
I'm surprised at the bad reviews - especially for the Key, this is one of the best restaurants around. Service is consistently good and the back outdoor area is a great place to chill with a drink. And compared to other live music at nearby restuarants (Hub, I'm looking at you), it's usually better, too. Foodwise, can't go wrong with the burger, guacamole, or most of the fish options
We stopped here for lunch and decided to just order a bunch of appetizers. We ordered the seared tuna, calamari, chicken wings, escargot, nachos with pork, and a children's chicken tenders, oh and two pitchers of beer. It came out in a reasonable amount of time, everything was hot and delicious. The sauce they used on the calamari was AMAZING, if I could have just eaten that for lunch I would have. The entire meal was $127 after tax, not cheap, but good; and all 7(2 kids) left feeling satisfied. Our waitress was very nice and prompt, and there were two people singing outside in the corner and they actually sounded very good.

Great! Amazing smoked meat and their lobsters are fantastic. Great beer selection too.
Always a good time ! Live music, great food and drinks : ) Come out & join the party !
Best ever ... Lobster was awsome Snaper fish was perfect Ribs (my husban been a memphis ribs perfectionist) was impressed of the taste (big ones) by the way. The waiter knew what we need all the time was a awsome experience, tables little for the big dishes. But I don't think it matters when the atmosphere is awsone. Mojito classico was my 1st Mojito good good good. 5 starts price was rasonable.
Great location, food was delicious & the live music was GREAT! our server was very fast & efficient!
My friend and I just stopped in here to have a beer after dinner and enjoy the music. I must say I will definitely be going back for dinner in the future. The ambiance is terrific. The Hawaiian singer with bare feet made the night. Beautiful voice and the beer was only $2 during happy hour. Loved every minute of...
Great happy hour! All appetizers are half off and drinks. The nachos and wings were great. The bar is cool it's all lit up in blue. Friendly environment.
Omg
amazing customer service and great food! the live music really makes the place awesome!
Stopped in here for happy hour after a day at the beach. I loved sitting on the patio and listening to the live music. The service was great and food was a great after beach treat. Happy hour is 4-6pm Monday to Friday. We had Dales beach bread which killed my diet but was so good. It had garlic butter, tomato, blue cheese, and mozerella. We also ordered the calamari which had a delicious spicy sweet chili sauce. The prices for the regular menu items are a little spend but I plan to come back at some point.
Food was awesome. Grace the bartenders gets 5 stars for her service and personality!!
We visit this restaurant every time we are in siesta key. The wings are the best in the village . I would only say that the vegetables served as a side were very disappointing this time . Not the same quality mixed veg as before but straggly spinach .this is nit picking but does make a difference .The service has...
Follow your nose
We could smell the Wood fired grill just walking around the village and followed our nose to Blu Que. Very crowded and there was a wait for outside but were seated inside and could still hear the live music. Food came quickly and did not disappoint. Both the grilled Red Snapper and Mahi were were so fresh, and steamed veggies...
Another Exceptional place to dine ....not too loud on a Monday night ...great wings tasty pulled pork...delicious blue coleslaw...only complaint...if u have something that tastes great increase the serving size a bit...

Pretty good food and attentive service. Had the lobster bisque and seared tuna.
Try the cobia when on special catch of the day. It was the best meal of my three + week vacation on SK. The nightly live music is amazing - particularly Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. The patio is big and gets great airflow. Love the different daily specials and they have a great happy hour.
We came here about 3 or 4 times throughout the vacation. The smoked wings are really good. If you go during happy hour its the best deal with half priced draft beers and apps. Nice spot.
Went here with our baby son. Very good service. Try the house's special pulled pork - it was great! We will definitely go back.
Great food and atmosphere during the day time. Night time crowd gets a little louder than I would like, but enjoyable.
5 star
We love this place & try to come every Sunday post beach day at a minimum.
The service is great, the drinks are awesome and so is the food. The live music always is right on point. (No subpar musicians here). It's on our favorites list being locals.
On Sunday's evenings we love the pork roast.. Like a free little appetizer.
The pulled pork sandwich with the blue cheese coleslaw is a favorite as is the banana sling cocktail.
One of the best on the island for great service and good food Paired with some excellent music.
This is our favorite spot so far on the Island. They always have great entertainment and excellent, speedy service! The BBQ is on point each time we've had it! I highly recommend their mile high pulled pork sandwich or the brisket sandwich. Each beverage was made quickly and tasted delicious. The wait staff is attentive and courteous everytime we've been here. We like to come on Sundays because they have a free pig roast. This place is definitely worth checking out if you get the chance!
Great beachy vibe! Terrific food at reasonable beach resort prices. Happy hour from opening until I think 6:00. Good service; friendly staff.
The staff and waitress were so friendly, polite, attentive and informative. The food was excellent and of good quality. The had a band playing outside but we ate inside only because it was alittle chilly. But we could still hear them and it was great ! I would definitely recommend this to anyone going to siesta key it is located...
Loved the turkey burger, raw tuna, artichoke dip. The music was great: steel drums and islandusic. One of our 4 favorite spots on Siesta Key!

Great service and food!! Attended with a group of eight and everyone was very happy with their orders. Highly recommend.
Had a really great meal here. Started with the 2-fer Oyster Appetizer and some salads, followed by the $20 lobster specials. All just excellent, but the very best dish was the Bloody Mary's. Absolutely GREAT drinks. Really worth going early for Happy Hour since you can save alot, and there is still entertainment anyway.
Great happy hour half price appetizers and martinis. Smoked wings were delicious and great martini selection. Very friendly server. Great steel drum music to give you that tropical feel! We will return for more!
Had a bad start to our dining experience but it ended well. We were seated quickly but were ignored for about 15 minutes. Servers kept walking by us but it was like we were invisible. We finally flagged someone down and asked if we could get a server. Turns out the host never assigned a server to us. Seemed like...
The wings are awesome! Almost can't get enough of them. Pulled pork is also very good with their wonderful bar b que sauce. Live music
Stopped by for a cooling drink and a light lunch, and were surprised with the best nachos any of have ever eaten. They are called Turtle Bay Nachos, and we had them put lobster on top. Great taste for a unique dish. Michael was our waiter, and kept us well supplied with drinks. We will definitely go back to this...
I always head to the Bean for its great atmosphere and friendliness and to catch up on the local news on the Key.
The hardest thing is to decide what to eat. Great fish and great meat. Simple dishes with little extras to make for a great dinning or lunch. Good music, good seating. One of my favorites.
Very good ribs & pulled pork! Great waiter-Michael! Would go back for sure! The selection of 16 beers on tap, beach atmosphere, and fantastic smoked flavor would be hard to beat.
Food here is hit or miss, my friend ordered a saled here once it was hilarious , not in a good way . I give it a 4 becouse the happy hr is long and the drink list is big and everything I've tried is yummy. My boyfriend got a drink once that was a bit week and our waitress brought him a shot on the house. We will be going here everyday this week during our vacation .
First, I always come for the food. There are so many items I want to eat it is hard to choose. Cool place to hang out, fun spot and good music. Great food for a good price. I wish they cooked a pig everyday.
Everything was beyond expectations...after reading some of the reviews we were a little skeptical ...Eric our server was great , food was excellent...and all on a Friday night in the heart of tourist season. Advance phone or on line reservations and complimentary valet parking are a big plus!
I ordered BBQ Wings and got charged .75 for a 1 oz cup of ranch dressing. Great Business decision, how much do you charge for ketchup? I'll never eat there...
Holiday weekend so it was crowded. One of the only places in the village that accepts reservations. The live music was great, the food was slow coming out but we didn't mind--it was a busy night.
Stopped with friends for a couple of drinks. Service was very good and she was super friendly even as she was quite busy. We had the sliders for an appetizer and they were quite tasty. We maybe would have went back for a dinner but our time in Siesta Key was limited to a quick visit.
Excellent food and live music by the beach.
The surf and turf special was moderately priced and excellent to taste. The live music was entertaining. We had a group including young and older adults and everyone enjoyed.
After a Sunday night stroll down Avenue Messina to see the sunset, we stopped in here. We should have had a reservation because it was so busy, and were lucky there was one table for two. We ordered a pork barbecue sandwich and sweet potato fries. The BEST ever! LOVED the pork--tender and very tasty--and the sweet potato waffle fries...
Visited two times while vacationing in siesta key. First, lunch and it was great. My husband had a Cuban, and I had Cobb salad, of course accompanied by beer. Both choices excellent. Second was to have an evening drink and meet some locals. Both times there was live music, and they were really good. And the location was perfect-right in...
My boyfriend and I had lunch here yesterday. Great atmosphere in a beachy vibe with a guitar player singing some pleasant tunes. The food was outstanding. Lobster bisque and she crab soup were award worthy. I had lobster soft tacos with slaw. Very reasonable at $13 and delicious. My boyfriend had the brisket which he said was superb. Happy hour...
went there for some coffee in the morning.... quirky and fun.... good coffee ( great selection) and a decent breakfast sandwich....
Menu doesn't lie
I went to Blu Que Island Grill to check out the experience and try some new food. Initially, I went to try their Pulled Pork Sandwich, advertised on their special menu for $5.00. Well, it is a little more than that $12.00. I brought this up to the attention of my server who talked to the manager and she told me that she mentioned my problem to the manager who supposedly made a call to the...
Half price drinks and appetizers during happy hour. Check website for times, as it sometimes changes. Smoked wings and calamari are great, but all apps are delicious! Meals are also great.
Family always has Blu Que on list of places we must visit several times. Love the ribs, pulled pork, special salads and tried the lobster dinner. Desserts are good - especially "fried Oreos"
We went for dinner and my filet steak was absolutely excellent. Tender and flavoursome. My husband had the ribs which were excellent. A couple of days later we went with my husband's parents for lunch. I had brie in pastry. It didn't seem much like a pastry but it was very nice. They had haddock in batter. The batter was...
Great service, nice change on usual favorites
Erik was a great server, we connected quickly, nice conversation and he made several recommendations that my husband and i both enjoyed. Erik recommended the wings which are a staple in our house, they were smoked and had a tasty glaze on them, and you know they were good if my husband didn't request ranch to drench them in. We look forward to going back again soon.
my husband really liked this restaurant/bar. he loves bbq & bar food. good live music almost every nite, which is fun! price is good as well.
Yes, I guess the lady who made the vegi smoothies left. Too bad she really knew what she was doing. I hear she is still around but don't know where.
The fruit smoothy was still very good.
The fish tacos were very good and the music even better! First time here and will be back next winter!
Bad service, amazing food.
The pulled pork here is to die for. Make sure you get it with the bbq sauce! Aside from the wonderful food the service was pretty awful. I'm pretty sure the guy that brought our food out from the kitchen did more work than our waitress.
Great NYE dinner
I made a reservation here without really knowing anything about it. So when we got to town the day before, we went to check it out. The bartender, Jaime, was very friendly and helpful. Gave us ideas for our stay in Siesta Key. We went back for dinner on NYE. Although the hostess the day before told us to get there early (7 p.m. reservation), we arrived at 6:15 and there was no wait. We went...
great food …great drinks…excellent staff..just a few blocks from beach..
Great coffee
Had the best coffee on vacation at The Local Bean. Neat little shop on the key and would recommend it.
Great cup of Latte to start the morning
Convenient location for arriving by walking, jogging or driving. The couple who owns the place are totally laid back and so very nice. I walked there from the Ringling House every day to get a cup of coffee on vacation.
Great dinner
Spent our first night in Siesta Key at this cute and fun restaurant. Live music was great and the food was awesome. My husband had the ribs, which he said were the second best ribs he ever had, and I had the grouper which was equally fabulous. Will make sure we eat there again the next time we are in...
You wont get the Blues Here
The Blu Que has very good BBQ a wonderful lively staff and is just a great place to hang out in Siesta Key. A must go to place in the village.
A nice evening
The restaurant was nearly full but we were seated right away. The staff were a lot of fun and seemed to enjoy their jobs. The live music was great, a one man show and very talented. The food was quite tasty and the portions were generous. I'd like to see the menu expanded a bit. This is a fun place...
Best Coffee in town
I love the local bean! They are super friendly and warm, but most of all the coffee and food is amazing! Moving to Florida from San Francisco I was on the look out for a good coffee house...Thank god the local bean is there to offer all their delicious organic coffee and food! Thanks guys!
I took my daughter to lunch at the Blue Que yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. The food and service was fantastic! The atmosphere was beachy and laid back. We had a great time and we will go back. The specials are phenomenal.
Love the Music
Spent a super Sunday afternoon listening to great live oldies and enjoying a yum lunch and drinks. Fun atmosphere and right near the beach and fun stores in Siesta Key Village.
Very good and decent service
Our waiter was very friendly, helpful and offered great service (when we could find him). He seemed to disappears for extended periods of time and we could find him anywhere. That being said, the food and coconut martini was amazing!
Great coffee, great company
Went in to have coffee before Siesta Key Christmas parade, coffee was organic and delicious. Met the owner who was delightful and very informative about the area. We appreciated that they use organic ingredients and look forward to visiting the shop when we are in town again.
Beach food, open air, live music, in the village!
Awesome!
We had 14 in our group and service was outstanding!
Fantastic Apps
We always make a point of going to the Blu Que for some afternoon apps and a few glasses of wine while we enjoy the live music they feature and we are never disappointed. I would have to say that their mussels are divine and definitely what I strive for my own when I make them at home. The calamari...
Big Top on draft and Tommy D on guitar... We've eaten there a handful of times and the staff are friendly, great atmosphere, and good food. It's great to see local beer, musicians, and food right in Siesta Village. Be sure to get there when Tommy D is playing - he's excellent on guitar
Good food and atmosphere
My wife and I had an excellent dinner last night at the Blu Que!
I had the surf and turf (a 6oz steak and 1/2 pound lobster tail for $21!) and my wife had the barbecued ribs. Both were excellent.
The service was also very good as our waitress was helpful in providing recommendations, and was very patient with us...
Great music! I had the fillet and it was Excellent. Our waitress is on top of everything.. we ordered drinks and they were mixed just fine. I was reading the postings of others as we were seated and wanted to give up and go but I'm glad we stayed! Our waitress name is Jenelle. Thanks for a Great night! If you Are lucky enough to listen to The Distraction band defiantly do it!
Cool atmosphere and outside seating, pets
Went for a nice dinner and it certainly was. Friendly service. Baked Brie was very delicious. Live music was a nice unexpected touch outside.
BBQ and beer
Visited Blu Que for the first time this year and I'm wondering why I never went here before. This place was great! Awesome food, great beer selection, and tasty specialty drinks! Perfect for a quick bite or for dinner with the family.
Fun Bar & Restaurant
Just stopped for drinks but great service and fun atmosphere. Entertainment was excellent. Can't wait to go back in April.
Where you always feel welcome
It's always a great time with tony and Jamie at the bar. Half price apps I love the Bison sliders and the key lime desert was so good! Music and a comfortable outside bar couldn't ask for more!
Sunday lunch
Ate lunch on our last day. Very good Cuban sandwich. Better than another place. Average frozen margarita.
Delicious Seafood, Better BBQ
One of the only times my vacation that I turned down delicious sea food for something better: barbecue. I had a lamb shank, cooked to perfection with melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The pulled pork was the best I've had in a while. I tried escargot for the first time, and loved the way it was prepared, steamed in delicious herbs and butter....
Coffee Done Well
While a lot of cafes and restaurants in Siesta Key do espresso drinks (I tried them everywhere I ate, where available), Local Bean is one of the only ones that does it right. When I ordered, I knew exactly what I was getting. The macchiato is a real macchiatto, the double shot is actually two shots. I greatly admire their...
Fab place with great food and live music
Sat just off the main street this electrically designed place has character and excellent food to boot. Sandwhiches and burgers are different to what you would usually see with pulled pork and texas hickory options. Would definitely go back again. Only small problem is parking in the Siesta Key village generally. Place does have its own parking but this gets...
Best happy hour
Another place I go very time I am here. The half priced appetizers are worth the trip. Drink prices are good.
Great food and service
Friendly service! A little pricey but good and appealing to the eye. We were there on a Tuesday and had their 'Tuesday Tacos' which were excellent! We went back there one evening to have dessert. Recommend this restaurant!
Great atmosphere and good flavors
We tried this cool place and sat outside to enjoy the love music and ambience of the Village. We tried the peel and eat shrimp, calamari and beef brisket, all were tasty and were large portions. The service was very friendly and helpful on items to try, overall a very good place. We will go back again!
Excellent Happy Hour
Great food and drinks at Happy Hour. Went with my girl friends and we were pleasantly surprised of the quality of food and drink. Great $5 martini's with top shelf vodka's.
Walt Okon - Blu Que Island Grill
Sunday, 5 October 2014 the Blu Que is in the area do Sarasota, Florida. This is a Bar And Grill restaurant. They had live singer who was very good the sounde system was very loud. We were seated by a very nice and welcoming hostest very quickly. The service was excellent. Katie was our server and she and her team...
Another ok place in Siesta Key village
Yes... Another grill. Food was ok. Outdoor seating was nice and the music was good the night we were there. Service was good but overall this place is nothing special. The waffle fries were not terribly hot or fresh and the food came in a wire basket which looks cute but it means it's quite hard to cut through anything!
A little bit of Key West....
Another great Sunday night excursion to BluQue, with excellent entertainment and a Key west like atmosphere on the covered deck. Can really recommend the cherry smoked wings and the Sunday special Luau pulled pork. Pour the home made BBQ sauce on! Also a cool touch is the sparkler they attach to certain bottles of wine when they are delivering them to your table that really catch peoples...
Perfect weeknight date
We were sat immediately. Service was great, our server was very professional an knowledgable. She made it a great dining experience! Our food came fast and tasted great! I will definitely be back and will tell everyone about Blu Que Island Grill.
Good food and Fun on The Key
We have visited Blu Que on Siesta Key many times. They have great smoked meats, a variety of seafood, and sandwiches. We were surprised by their large selections of nice wines and cocktail specials. We usually visit on Friday nights when they have Great live music which combines good food and lots of fun.

The entire meal was $127 after tax, not cheap, but good; and all 7(2 kids) left feeling satisfied. Our waitress was very nice and prompt, and there were two people singing outside in the corner and they actually sounded very good. • • •
Excellent Service and lovely food
Excellent service, lovely food, great ambiance. will definitely go back on our next trip to siesta Key
Loved it
A good amount of tasty food. Decent selection and very friendly staff. Our waiter looked exactly like Sam Elliot (just another plus)
Favorite in Siesta Key
Had a few lunches and one dinner at the Blu Que during our stay in Siesta Key. We loved the casual atmosphere and the food and service was terrific each time. At dinner there were 12 of us, taking up two booths outside. Eric was our waiter and he was awesome. He fit right in to our family and had...
A good surprise
We were all set to celebrate our best friend Janet's birthday at the Cottage next door, as we made it a tradition since a few years, but they have changed their menu from the past so we didn't stayed and came to the Blu Que.... Not knowing of course what to expect! We were greeted by the most friendly and...
Ribs! Ribs! Ribs
They were so good they did not need sauce. I love sauce but I will get it on the side next time.
We split a full rack. It was perfect for us.
Blue Cheese Chips are a great way to start.
Grouper Sandwich
We got the Grouper Sandwich from the menu and thought it was really good. The environment of the restaurant is very nice with both inside and outside dining, live music, and relaxed atmosphere.
Late Night Drinks
It was after 9:30 and we wanted a bite to eat. Last call is at 10:00 so we just made it. Had some snacks & drinks. Sitting outside is nice too.
Great Choice for Dinner
After debating several places we chose Blue Que and had a great meal with outstanding service. Has a mixed menu of seafood and bbq which was a nice change from Other local places. Great atmosphere and nice live band.
The food and service was great. The speciality drinks are also super. This is a great place to come to get the true flavor of florida
Good place to eat
My family are here Saturday night I received the all you can eat crab legs for 50$. They were very good not the best I have ever had but very good. Inside and outside dining under a roof. Kind of like a beach shack feel which is awesome. I would recommend to someone looking for seafood.
My 40th B-Day at Blue Que
I am SO happy we chose Blu Que for my birthday. Everything was great. From the service to the food. We couldn't have asked for a better server. Eric made sure that everyone was attended to. We ordered the Smoked Chicken Wings, Calamari and Fish Dip. Fantabulous! For dinner we had, All you can eat Maine Lobsters. So worth it... After dessert, it was time to go. We ALL made sure to tip Eric well...
More fans needed for out door seating.
Lobster Mac & cheese was amazing!
This place is great. The atmosphere is fun, the food is good and the staff is super friendly. I go there every time I visit my family in Sarasota!
Great fish and chips. If you get the smoke fish dip as a starter ask for extra Bread.
Fun live music lunch and dinner throughout the week, very good fun, fairly priced and inside/outside dining.
Best place for BBQ/ smoke on the key!!! Excellent pulled pork with the Kansas City BBQ sauce... Great Service. When your down here make to make this a dinner destination.
Great spot for Happy Hour on Siesta Key. The vibe is relaxed, the music is good and the drink specials are great. What more could you want? I recommend the oysters, which I am told come from NY. You may even get a bit of crab in one or two if you're lucky.
Awesome food, wine & atmosphere! Be sure to check out Daily Specials & Happy Hour also :)
Greta Spot to Eat While in Siesta Key, Fla
We selected the Blu Que Island Grill after checking out a few recommendations from our hotel (none that appealed to our tastes at the time). The restaurant had a laid back look, the hostess was street side to greet us. We sat inside because we wanted to watch the football games. But the outside dining was very nice w/music, heaters...
Our second time at the Blue Que and it was even better than the first time. Lynne said she could have made a meal of the mac & cheese. I enjoyed the pulled pork...and the baked beans were the best I've had. The atmosphere was excellent and the live music added to the experience without being a distraction. Want a special evening with your special someone? This is the place.
2nd time my husband an I went for a visit. It was one of the only places open today, Christmas. Reception at door is lacking like before. We went to the bar for a couple drinks and an appetizer. Our bar tender was clearly busy but he was efficient and very personable. I got the pumpkin pie martini. It was by far the best pumpkin drink I have had! We also got the calamari, was cooked perfectly and the sauce is very good! We'll be back again!
Liked: Service, Atmosphere
Disliked: Value
Guitarist here tonight was great! Got to have the Blu Cheese Chips!
Great BBQ on Siesta Key
You go to this place for the BBQ, which is excellent, but then are wonderfully surprised by the rest of the menu. The sides were all outstanding, and the non -BBQ items were delicious . The crab cakes were as good as we have ever had.Decor is a bit rough around the edges, and service, while friendly and competent, seemed a bit overloaded. The real test? I am planning to go back!
We came here on a recommendation and loved it. Yummy food, friendly service, nice music, great atmosphere. Bobby had the ribs--"very good" Sheila had the pulled pork sandwich--"excellent" Mark had the Caesar salad with pulled pork "good but made great by the pulled pork. I had the Cobb with smoked chicken "yummy."
Three words..... Shrimp and Grits! Hard to find this delicacy outside the Deep South. It was excellent. The atmosphere here is laid back, good entertainment, and plenty of choices on the menu.
we went for all you can eat
we went for all you can eat lobster for $35. they were generous, didnt feel like they dont want us to have anymore lobster. waitress was great. excellent band. all around fabulous
Great restaurant by the sea, with great bar and ambient.

This was absolutely the WORST dining experience I have ever had. The dinner took over an hour and a half to get to the table and it was terrible. The server would not clear dirty dishes from the table and it took over 30 minutes to get a drink. I asked three different people for a manager and some guy "with the guys" finally comes up and doesn't even apologize. I NEVER complain but this was downright offensive.
The food here is amazing. By far, the best restaurant on Siesta Key and in the area. They have a little bit of everything: steak, seafood, poultry, bbq, pork and daily specials. The salads and desserts are also a must try. As for drinks, I love the frozen mojito! There is live music all day everyday, happy hour weekdays 12-6pm and appetizers are 1/2 off 3-6pm weekdays at the bars.
Good food, great music, a little pricey
Decided to stop in for lunch--fish tacos & bison burger are pretty good, but man is this place expensive! Fountain tea for $3.75, really? Should have got a water... Aside from that, the service was better than good--our waitress Rachel was very friendly and attentive, she even took our picture for us. :) Overall the best place around for ambience...
Let's be more objective here. Food is good here... no questions asked. Whether it's the bison or kobe burgers, you can't go wrong. Price wise, it's somewhat up there but you pay for the location you are in. The gazpacho BLT soup was excellent.. unusual but excellent. Fries were great as well but this is where the 5 star slipped through the cracks. 1) not enough fries. Come on... anty it up. 2) The service overall was BAD and INCOMPREHENSIBLE on how their system worked. Our waiter was also a bartender but yet, the bus boy was constantly present near by. He could not help us with a party of 6 so we had to wait for our waitor to come back. Unacceptable. For my sister to get the drinks and put the order in as if she's shadowing their work, at the end of the day... she got the tip and the waiter got nothing. Bottom line: you'll find good food here but plan on staying a while. Bring your nook or download an app on your phone to keep yourself company or hopefully you have a very talkative party with you.
Blu Smoke has awesome martinis and great bartenders ... the food's pretty good too :)
I'm really happy that Blu Smoke opened up on the key because I can never say no to some BBQ. It's a nice change of pace in comparison Sonny's and the Sunday BBQ at The Salty Dog.
I've had their beef brisket a couple of times and it's pretty tasty. The brisket isn't cut like how I usually see it. It is cut into very thin, long and like an inch wide slices...the only problem I have with this is that it has a real potential to dry out -- especially if you take home some leftovers. They have 3 different kinds of sauces on the table for you to use; zingy mustard, southwest chipotle and a classic BBQ. I'm not a huge fan of any single one on their own, but mixing the chipotle with the bbq together produces a sweet and spicy mix -- I love it!
Their fried calamari is hands down the best thing on the menu. My Dad and I both agree it's some of the best we've ever tasted. The texture is fantastic and not rubbery and chewy at all. And the sweet and sour type of sauce they put on top is delicious.
I've also had the shrimp and grits with sausage. It was good, but only if I'm really craving some grits. And sadly, I've been spoiled by only eating grits in South Carolina so I can be a bit picky.
I'm a fan of Blu Smoke. Good food, nice ambiance, and prompt service. The only thing that kind of bugs me is their smoke machine. I get it, your name is Blu Smoke... it was cute for a minute but then it just was interrupting my meal.
Sarasota seems to be making a concerted effort towards becoming known for its barbecue as much as its artistic culture and beaches, and the Blu Que Island Grill is definitely a restaurant that pushes that effort in a positive way. Nestled right in the middle of Siesta Village, Blu Que looks like it would fit right in as an upscale eatery in the Keys, and boasts both comfortable outdoor seating and a cool, shaded, stylish interior dining. While there are a few tv's hanging around, it doesn't come off as a sports bar, and the blue backlit bar and wine storage is a great touch that comes off as tasteful, not tacky. We ate indoors, and during our meal a singer/guitarist set up and began playing outside, but it was at a level comfortable enough to talk over, and if you were outside, not so loud that you couldn't still enjoy yourself.
Right off the bat, we knew we had to try the Blu Cheese Chips ($8) and the Kobe Beef Sliders ($12), since the menu boasted ingredients that sound delicious and we had tried similar starters at other restaurants. We definitely were not disappointed. The chips were completely self-indulgent and decadent, and were able to stay crispy from not being drowned in too much bleu cheese and balsamic reduction. The Sliders were top-notch. We ordered them cooked medium, and not only were they perfectly prepared, the flavor of the beef completely blew us away. With only three on the plate, it was hard to not fight each other to devour the last one (we ended up splitting it like civilized people). Blu Cheese Chips, Blu Que Island Grill, Siesta Key, Sarasota, FLMy sidekick's main course was the Fish Tacos ($13), which came out as a generous portion of battered fish in soft tortillas with lettuce, pico and an avocado aioli that was unexpectedly spicy in a good way. I opted for the K. R. D. St. Louis Ribs ($17 for a half-rack) to see what Blu Que's smoker had going for it, and they were great. I ordered them dry so I could sample the regular, Gold and Kansas City sauces on the table, and they all were tangy, bold and went well with the pork. Personally, I enjoyed the Kansas City sauce the most, but I really would recommend any of them. The waffle fries we both ordered were perfectly done and outshined any popular drive-thru, and my seasoned veggies were surprisingly good. Fish Tacos, Blu Que Island Grill, Siesta Key, Sarasota, FLMost places just dish out seasoned veggies that maybe were cooked to order and maybe weren't, and are almost always soft and soggy, but these were fresh and firm, and were a smart addition to my meal (although I was tempted to try the mac and cheese because, well... mac and cheese...). We were completely stuffed after all of it, so we had to decline the waitress's offer for dessert, but we definitely plan on returning to try the Chocolate Molten Lava Cake, which looked fantastic when it was served to a nearby table.
Our visit to Blu Que was a completely positive experience. The staff was friendly but professional, and aside from a lone hiccup in waiting for drink refills, the service was great and the food was definitely something to write home about. The slightly higher prices keep it from being too casual of a stop, but if you get what you pay for, Blu Que delivers on all fronts. No one looking for tasty BBQ will be disappointed.
Excellent happy hour. Good food, especially the all you can eat lobsters. Lots of live music.
Really quite good. The cute little bartender suggested we try the sampler appetizer and it was fantastic BBQ. I mean really GREAT (and plentiful). The couple next to us saw ours and ordered the same--and they also raved about it. I was too full for any entree but my friend had a good little steak served.with some delicious cheese grits. Now, the bathrooms were a little dirty (I just don't understand why--that should be a top priority) and the man I was with told the manager how bad they were. I was a little embarrassed he did that, but I should not have been. I mean-- it is a restaurant... an eating establishment-- they should be at least a little clean, no?! Siesta Key Village needs to clean up their whole act a bit down there. But-- I will say-- the food was as good as it always has been here. :))
Second year in Siesta Key and we had to go back to Blu Que!! Happy hour is fantastic, a million martinis to choose from - although they are $5 this year during HH, up from $3. And dinner is amazing, highly recommend the brisket quesadillas as an app, very tasty and unique!
An excellent meal. Good atmosphere with live music. Free Valet Parking.
Our service was good. However we have heard that the service can be sub-par if they are busy.
Food was excellent. Recommend this restaurant.
Our server Katie is phenomenal! The food is solid and while we mostly get the same things. (Veggie sandwich & waffle fries) *No more waffle fries. We tried the mahi sandwich and my fiancée had the fish tacos. Her tacos were ok. The hub makes better ones, consistently!
My mahi sandwich was ok as well, but I've had better ones on the key, so that's not good.
The music tonight was marcel and he is awesome! This and great service helped to patch over underwhelming Father's Day food. The food should be better next time!
